Hyla W Hyla's Pink Crusader Patient Story

Being someone who has spent her life giving back to the community, she committed to transforming the cancer care experience for others.

Livingston resident, Hyla Weiss, a wife and mother, has survived two breast cancer diagnoses, both requiring a lumpectomy and radiation therapy. Hyla’s personal journey and desire to make positive change led to the cofounding of Comfort Project 360, an initiative to improve the experience of patients undergoing radiation therapy treatments at Saint Barnabas Medical Center.

Despite her positivity, Hyla found daily radiation treatments emotionally taxing. After going through treatment, she recognized the medical care she received was excellent but the environment and experience could have been improved with some simple changes.

Being someone who has spent her life giving back to the community, she committed to transforming the cancer care experience for others. Recognizing that the physical environment is an integral part of healing, Hyla has focused her time, talent, and generosity on creating more uplifting healing spaces and harnessing the power of the mindbody connection at Saint Barnabas Medical Center.
