She is living life with a new level of appreciation
Ultrasound Technician, Joan Addeo is usually the individual who is scanning others to see if they have cancer. Her life was busy taking care of others and she missed her annual mammogram. When she finally went for her routine mammogram, it showed an abnormality. She was now the patient and had a different perspective of the health care system. Additional testing indicated breast cancer. The malignant lump was small, requiring a lumpectomy along with radiation.
Today, it has been more than five-years and she is living life with a new level of appreciation. Her advice to others: take one step at a time, live for today and make sure to get your annual mammogram.
