Jodi B Jodi's Pink Crusader Patient Story

“We are all in charge of our own bodies. We owe it to ourselves and our families to stay on top of our health and live life to the fullest!”

At the age of 42, Jodi Bloom, a busy mother of three, was always diligent about getting her annual mammogram. She fully recognized the importance of being proactive about her health care since she had been diagnosed with melanoma years before and her mother, Lois Gerstein, was diagnosed with breast cancer six years earlier. She had always hoped and prayed that she wouldn't be afflicted, but much to her dismay, she was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma in Situ. She underwent surgery and required radiation therapy followed by a regimen of Tamoxifen. Five years later, Jodi is cancer-free and very busy with her family, friends and numerous volunteer efforts and community causes.

Although cancer has changed her life, it has also provided her with more focus and a heightened level of appreciation for all that she has. She is grateful that she is healthy and able to give back to her community and those in need. Her advice to others, “We are all in charge of our own bodies. We owe it to ourselves and our families to stay on top of our health and live life to the fullest!”
