Lois G Lois' Pink Crusader Patient Story

Keep going, keep positive and most importantly, keep your family and your friends close!

Lois Gerstein is not only a survivor, she is also a thriver. A receptionist in an oral surgery office, she surrounds herself with her friends and close-knit family. Eleven years ago, she was anxiously awaiting the birth of a new grandchild. Lois’ daughter, Jodi Bloom, was expecting her third child. However, a routine mammogram changed everything. She was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Instead of just being able to focus on the happy arrival of a new baby, she was also facing the challenge of breast cancer surgery and radiation therapy.

Unfortunately, shortly thereafter, Lois was also diagnosed with lymphoma, requiring additional surgery and another round of radiation. Lois would not allow this to stand in her way. She recognizes that this was quite a difficult time in her life. Lois got through it with strength, determination, a positive focus and the love of her new granddaughter. Today, she tells others to live every day like it is their last. Keep going, keep positive and most importantly, keep your family and your friends close!
