Sharolyn K Sharolyn's Pink Crusader Patient Story

“I had no idea a rash on my breast could mean cancer.”

Last fall, 40-year-old flight attendant Sharolyn Kennedy and her husband moved into their dream home. One morning soon after, she noticed a rash on her chest and while treating it with lotion, felt a lump in her breast. She immediately called her physician. Following imaging tests and biopsies, the breast surgeon to whom she was referred diagnosed her with inflammatory breast cancer, a highly aggressive and rare type of breast cancer. Sharolyn underwent a six-month course of chemotherapy and has had the first of four surgeries for her bilateral mastectomy and breast reconstruction.

Sharolyn is grateful for the care she has received and all of the services available to help her through this challenging time. She continues on her road to recovery, passionate about telling her story so that others are aware and get checked.
