Adolescent Services


Adolescent Services The Network offers specialized treatment for adolescents who pose behavioral problems in school or home. Treatment teams include board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrists and substance abuse specialists, clinical social workers, registered nurses, clinical nurse specialists and certified educators, as necessary.

Inpatient Services

This intensive therapeutic structure is appropriate for adolescents with significant behavioral, psychiatric or dual diagnosis problems. The goal of treatment is medical and psychiatric stabilization to facilitate movement into less restrictive levels of care.

After-School Program

The Network offers after-school programs for those who can continue regular school activities but who require intensive supports to address substance abuse and behavioral issues. Programs are offered daily and transportation is available within certain areas.

Outpatient Services

Specialized outpatient services for youth are offered at locations throughout New Jersey. Services include:

  • Psychiatric Assessment
  • Individual, Family and Group Counseling
  • Psychological Testing
  • Vocational Testing
  • Psychotropic Medication Treatment

Diagnostic testing for psychiatric and/or organic/cognitive disorders such as attention deficit disorder, learning disabilities and other cognitive impairments is also conducted by psychologists.

A Highly Qualified Clinical Staff

All treatment, including necessary medical care, is coordinated with the primary care physician or referring professional (s). Each member of the staff is licensed and certified to deliver care in a particular area of specialty. Multi-disciplinary teams are directed by a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist. Teams may include:

  • Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists
  • Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW)
  • Registered Nurse Specialists (MN)
  • Child Life Specialists
  • Allied Health Therapists
  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CADC)
  • State Certified Educators
  • Family Therapists (LFMT)

Program Access

All Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Network programs can be accessed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year through Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Network Access Center, which is staffed by clinicians trained in emergency services and assessment. At the time of the call, clients are matched with appropriate clinical care or community resources, depending on their needs. Immediate assistance is made available to callers in crisis, and emergency assessment also may be provided at Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Network locations.
