A Comprehensive Program for Students, Families, School Staff and Communities
Building life skills and increasing protective factors that lead to success
Classroom and Groups
School-based Prevention Specialists deliver evidence-based classroom lessons
and work with students in small psycho-educational groups.
"TALK has been helping me from 2nd grade up until now in my college
years. When I was in 4th grade, I was coming to terms that my mother was
on drugs. Thanks to TALK, I am not embarrassed of her addiction anymore
because I was taught I did not cause it, I cannot change it and I can
do better for myself. "
~ S.M., College Sophormore, TALK Participant
TALK program provides evidence-based family education program to students
and their families, which reinforces skills taught in the classroom and
focuses on skill building.
"This program was wonderful. It got us though our family crisis, and
helped me and my kids. " -Parent
This interactive program reinforces the evidence-based lessons students
learned during the school year and prepares students for the next academic year.
Prevention Specialists deliver ongoing professional development to staff
in the areas of 504, Intervention & Referral Services (I.&R.S.),
and suicide prevention and awareness.
Prevention Specialists actively participate in community committees/councils
to remain informed about drug and alcohol trends in the community, identify
community partners to appropriately refer students and to decrease the
