64-Slice CT Angiography

The center provides the most advanced non-invasive cardiac and coronary computed tomographic (CT) angiography with a 64-detector CT scanner, as well as courses for cardiologists that meet many of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography’s requirements for Level I and Level II certification in this emerging technology. Coronary CT angiography provides early detection of coronary artery atherosclerotic plaques; is the most sensitive non-invasive tool for the detection of coronary artery stenosis; and provides an alternative method to traditional catheterization coronary angiography before valve surgery. Cardiac CT angiography is an important tool in the evaluation of complex congenital heart disease and anatomy, pericardial disease, aortic valve stenosis and cardiac mass or tumor. The technology can significantly improve pre-operative surgical planning.

Cardiac MRI

The most advanced 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner and software provide sophisticated images of the heart. Cardiac MRI, with or without contrast, offers unprecedented clarity of cardiac structure and accurate assessment of cardiac function. With its 3-dimensional scanning nature, it is the most accurate tool for the evaluation of LV and RV function. Cardiac MRI allows reliable pre-operative evaluation of myocardial viability to determine benefit of bypass surgery or revascularization in patients with severe ischemic LV dysfunction or ischemic cardiomyopathy. Precise evaluation of LV shape and corresponding structure and functional segments by cine and contrast MRI is vital for successful ventricular reduction surgery.

Comprehensive Cardiac Ultrasound Echocardiography

Comprehensive cardiac ultrasound echocardiographyservices include transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), stress echocardiography, transthoracic echocardiograms, and cardiac ultrasound. Pre-operative TEE allows accurate delineation of valve and cardiac structures, facilitating superior surgical planning. Intra- and post-operative TEE are effective in monitoring surgical results and allow for immediate correction of residual lesion in the operative room if necessary.
