RWJBarnabas Health offers a home care program specifically for patients
recovering from a stroke. We recognize that coping with the effects of
a stroke can be overwhelming for everyone involved. Many stroke survivors
are faced with the reality that they must change they way they live to
accommodate skills that were lost as a result of their illness. The Barnabas
Health Home Care Services Stroke Recovery program offers individual’s
personalized care in the place where they are most comfortable –
their own home.
Stroke Recovery Program features:
- Individualized rehabilitation
- Strength and endurance building
- Focus on regaining and/or improving communication skills
- Maximization of patient and family confidence
The outlook for stroke patients today is more hopeful than ever due to
advances in both stroke treatment and rehabilitation. Stroke rehabilitation
works best when the patient, family, and rehabilitation staff works together
as a team. Family members must learn about impairments and disabilities
caused by the stroke and how to help the patient achieve optimal function again.
The goal of stroke rehabilitation is to help the patient return to the
highest level of function and independence possible, while improving the
overall quality of life – physically, emotionally, and socially.
Rehabilitation is designed to meet each person's specific needs; therefore,
each program is different. Our stroke recovery program services are tailored
to your individual needs and circumatances, as well as your doctor's
recomendations and guidelines. Our program may include physical and occupational
therapy, speech therapy, nursing services, and help with every day activities.
