Barnabas Health Corporate Care Model A physician based model - the clinical team is built around experienced, Board Certified physicians that understand Workers’ Comp and Occupational medicine. Workers Comp Specialists that work directly with the physician, claims managers and injured employee. A team built around the physician to provide the best outcomes focused medicine. Communication – Keep everyone involved. Weekly claims calls – weekly review of all open cases – the claims call team includes administration, clinicians, on-site workers’ comp specialist, TPA (Third Party Administrator) account and claim managers. The team reviews all aspects of the cases and keeps the process moving to get the injured employee the correct care in a timely manner and get the employee back to work as safely and quickly as possible. Integration with Emergency Departments – Barnabas Health Corporate Care works closely with the Emergency Departments at each hospital. The clinicians in the Emergency Departments know that when an injured or ill employee presents with a work related injury they take care of the immediate need and immediately refer them to Barnabas Health Corporate Care the next business day. The communication between the Emergency Departments and the Corporate Care sites provide a virtual 24/7 coverage for work related injuries or illnesses. Specialist panel – Corporate Care spent time to create a specialist referral panel of physicians and surgeons that understand workers’ comp and concentrate on the most efficient treatment of the work related injury to get the injured employee back to MMI. This panel is regularly updated to reflect the most advanced options and highly trained specialists. Modified Duty – working closely with human resources and department managers RWJBarnabas Health was able to create a robust modified duty program that crosses all shifts and addresses all types of restrictions and barriers.
