Spine Surgery: What to Expect

Saint Barnabas Medical Center

In addition to education provided by your surgeon, every patient attends an intensive pre-surgical education program approximately three weeks before surgery, where you will learn about the mechanics of your joints and your procedure. You will receive a patient guidebook with information about what to do prior to surgery, what to expect during your stay, and how to care for yourself when you return home.

Clara Maass Medical Center

Each patient attends a group educational class to learn about your surgery and what to expect during your stay. You will also receive a comprehensive education book that you can follow throughout your experience. Before you are discharged, you will also attend a group discharge class to ensure you are prepared to continue with your recovery at home.
