Highlights
Working Environment and Duty Hours
Monmouth Medical Center provides residents with a sound academic
and clinical education that is carefully planned and balanced with
concerns for patient safety and resident well-being. Each residency
program ensures that the learning objectives of the program are
not compromised by excessive reliance on residents to fulfill service
obligations. Didactic and clinical education have priority in the
allotment of residents’ time and energies. Duty hour assignments
recognize that faculty and residents collectively have responsibility
for the safety and welfare of patients. Each program has a duty
hours policy and procedure that is in compliance with, and often
exceeds, the standards of the ACGME common and program-specific
requirements for work hours, time off, and call, as well as fatigue
education and monitoring.
