The Barnabas Health Heart Center at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center
offers a fully ACGME-accredited 3-year residency program in Cardiovascular
Diseases (PGY IV-VI). Two (2) residents are accepted to the program
every year, for a total of six (6) residents in training at any
time. The program is lead by Marc
Cohen, MD, FACC.
In addition to a comprehensive array of clinical rotations, the
residents have an opportunity to participate in many of the clinical
research trials and investigator-initiated protocols that are ongoing
at Newark Beth Israel's invasive and non-invasive cardiovascular
laboratories, heart failure and transplant center, electrophysiology
service, and specialized cardiac nursing units.
In 2005, Newark Beth Israel was accredited by ACGME for a one-year
residency program in Interventional Cardiology (PGY VII). The Interventional
Cardiology program is lead by Najam Wasty, MD, FACC, and accepts
two (2) residents per year.
