The Infectious Diseases fellowship at the Newark Beth Israel Medical
center is a two-year program designed to train future infectious
diseases clinicians.
The fellowship provides a broad based clinical experience in the
practice of infectious diseases including diagnosis, management
and prevention application of evidence-based methods of problem
solving, decision-making and an approach to patient care, driven
by humanistic and professional values.
The program offers a wide range of clinical experience in all
aspects of infectious diseases, a very active transplant program,
oncology service, large Ryan White funded HIV program, travel related
clinic among other programs, give the fellows a comprehensive clinical
experience.
The Infectious Diseases fellow is expected to master the clinical
skills in interviewing, physical examination, differential diagnosis,
diagnostic testing strategies, therapeutic options, counseling
and disease prevention. Our goal is to assure the fellows development
into independent Infectious Diseases Consultants, capable of providing
expert care.
The program provides a unified experience that allows the ID fellows
to develop excellence in the competencies specified by the ACGME
as they apply to the specialty of Infectious Diseases.
