At Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and the Children's Hospital
of New Jersey, residents receive extensive experience in all aspects
of primary, subspecialty and critical care in both Internal Medicine
and Pediatrics.
Together, both institutions maintain extensive primary and subspecialty
resources in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
-
We offer a broad spectrum of services ranging from our ECMO-
(Extra-Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation) capable, Level 3 NICU
to our Cardiac Transplantation Program, as well as our established
Center for Geriatric Health.
-
The Med/Peds Residency is geared toward providing an extensive
knowledge base and skills across all age groups. Our residents
alternate at six-month intervals between Internal Medicine
and Pediatrics for a total of 4 years. Our residents also rotate
through Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey.
Saint Barnabas is located in close proximity to Newark Beth
Israel Medical Center and offers a very complimentary experience
to that at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
-
Our Continuity Program for Med/Peds offers the residents a
unique opportunity to gain valuable experience rotating through
hospital-based, ambulatory Internal Medicine and Pediatric
clinics in their first year of training. The subsequent years
are spent in the private offices of Med/Peds adjunct faculty.
A Med/Peds practice is currently being developed on-site to
further enhance the continuity experience.
-
Our teaching affiliates include UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School,
the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, and St. George's
University.
