Our residency program affords a comprehensive surgical experience under the direct instruction of general Otolaryngologists, board certified Facial plastic surgeons, Head and Neck, Neuro-Otologists, Oral-MaxilloFacial, Pediatric and Micro-vascular surgeons. In addition to core rotations, fourth year residents spend 2 months on the Head and Neck service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer center. All residents participate in the New York Eye and Ear temporal bone course spanning October through April with instruction from NYEE attending staff as well as year round access to the Temporal bone lab. Additionally, residents participate in bi-monthly clinic at the New Jersey Institute for Craniofacial Surgery located at the Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center.
Our program places a strong emphasis on the outpatient clinical experience. Residents participate in office hours under direct supervision of attending staff. This clinical experience encompasses all aspects of general otolaryngology including allergy, immunology, audiology and facial plastic surgery. In this setting, residents also learn the important skill of billing and coding.
Education experiences include monthly grand rounds and journal presentations at SBMC, weekly attendance of UMDNJ’s ENT lecture series and grand rounds, as well as resident run morning lectures or coclia review at SBMC. Each resident participates in the AAO-HNS Home study course. Third year ENT residents get the opportunity to attend the University of Indiana Basic Science, Histopathology of the Head and neck course. Fourth year residents participate in the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital annual Temporal bone lab in Philadelphia.
