Livingston, NJ— In partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure North Jersey, The Breast Center at Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center will host a free seminar titled, “Genetics: Breast and Ovarian Cancer,” on Wednesday, November 2, at 6 p.m. The seminar will be held at the Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center, located at 200 South Orange Ave. in Livingston.
Michele Blackwood, MD, Director of Breast Health and Disease Management, will start off the night with a discussion focusing on breast risk and care. As Director of the Breast Health and Disease Management, Dr. Blackwood contributes to the region’s most comprehensive and state-of-the-art surgery service at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. Participating with most insurance companies, Dr. Blackwood’s office is located at the Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center.
Following will be Sharyn N. Lewin, MD, who will discuss the gynecologic risk associated with hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. Dr. Lewin is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Columbia University Medical Center in New York. An expert in the field of gynecologic oncology, she was named the 2010 Physician of the Year by New York-Presbyterian Hospital and was invited to join the Susan G. Komen Greater NYC Medical Advisory Committee.
The Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center houses the largest and most comprehensive breast diagnostic center in the state of New Jersey and one of the largest in the nation.
