Women’s Heart Disease Lecture to be held at the Ambulatory Care Center

Livingston, NJ— Heart Disease is the number one killer of women in the United States. To create awareness about this disease and to celebrate American Heart Month, the Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center, an affiliate of the Saint Barnabas Health Care System, will hold a lecture entitled, Tell a Friend about Women and Heart Disease.

The lecture will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2010, in Conference Room A/B at the Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center, 200 South Orange Avenue, Livingston (across from the Livingston Mall).

Most women fail to make the connection between risk factors – such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol – and their personal risk of developing heart disease. This lecture will explain what the cardiovascular risks are for women and what steps they can take to prevent heart disease.

Leading the lecture will be Janie Baranyay, RN, APN. A nurse practitioner of the Department of CT Surgery and Quality Cardiac Coordinator at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Ms. Baranyay has been a nurse for 17 years and a nurse practitioner for five years. She has worked in many areas including critical care, cardiology, cardiac services, cardiac rehab and emergency department.
