Saint Barnabas Multiple Sclerosis Comprehensive Care Center
Presents Cooking with a Disability: Turning Challenge into Fun

Livingston, N.J. –“Where to store the pots and how to reach the counter are not activities that a person who is handicapped can take for granted,” according to Carole Walter, award-winning cookbook author, culinary instructor, master baker, and consultant.  Ms. Walter is pleased to join Saint Barnabas Multiple Sclerosis Comprehensive Care Center to offer a special seminar, “Cooking with a Disability: Turning Challenge into Fun,” on Sunday, May 4, from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. at Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center, 200 South Orange Ave., Livingston, NJ.

People who have disabilities and up to five family members over the age of 12 are invited to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon featuring comprehensive strategies for physically challenged cooks.  At the beginning of the program a lunch will be served, at which time, all who attend will participate in small group discussions.   The focus of this dialogue is to address the challenges faced by the handicapped individual and/or the family members who are responsible for meal preparation.  Ms. Walter, who has coped with multiple sclerosis for 30 years, will then demonstrate an easy muffin recipe from her new book, “Great Coffee Cakes, Sticky Buns, Muffins, & More.”  Desserts from her book will be served and then she will answer questions that arose from the small round table discussions.  Suggested donation is $5 per individual, $10 per family. Registration is required by calling 1-888-724-7123.
