The Child Life Services program provides support, age-appropriate information and continuity of care to help children and their families adjust to hospitalization, illness and medical treatment. Certified Child Life Specialists strive to minimize the stress and anxiety that often accompany a hospital stay and medical procedures. Children and teens are not just tiny adults. Children, due to their illness, developmental level and the lack of familiarity of the hospital environment often feel overwhelmed. They need support, information and opportunities to engage in play and normal life activities that are sensitive to their developmental level and individual personality.
