Because
many aspects of a child's growth and development are interrelated,
C.H.A.T.T. provides an experienced, multidisciplinary team
of professionals to observe and evaluate each youngster in
a child-friendly, relaxed environment. The team consists
of a developmental pediatrician, nurse, psychologist, physical
and/or occupational therapists, speech pathologist, social
worker and/or family counselor. In addition our team also
may include learning disability consultant services.
Working together, the team assesses the total
child with all of his or her strengths ans weaknesses. Family
background and concerns are also included and addressed as
part of the assessment. A comprehensive individualized plan
for treatment is then recommended and shared with the parents
or caretakers. This team approach also enables C.H.A.T.T.
to evaluate the child in an efficient manner in just two
or three sessions.
A comprehensive report and intervention plan may include
but is not limited to:
-
Diagnosis, including medical
and psychosocial conditions.
-
Treatment, including referrals to community
resources, outpatient services, and school-initiated programs.
-
Monitoring, which may include medication/behavorial
monitoring, and case management
-
Counseling, including parent training,
behavior modification, and educational planning.
