Delays offered by
The Children's Hospital Assessment and Treatment
Team (CHATT)
Vinod Goyal, M.D.
Vinod Goyal, M.D., is the Medical Director
of C.H.A.T.T. She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics
and the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners. Dr.
Goyal has been a consultant for developmental and behavioral
pediatrics to several hospitals in the area, to Early Intervention
Programs and to school systems. She is a member of numerous
organizations that advocate for children with special needs,
such as ORTON DYSLEXIA Society, COSAC, Center for Outreach
and Services for the Autism Community and Child with Attention
Deficit Disorder (CHADD). She is actively involved in teaching
pediatric house staff and medical students and directs the
program and curriculum for developmental pediatrics for all
pediatric residents.
Barbara Caspi, Ph.D.
Barbara Caspi, Ph.D., Coordinator of the program,
is a psychologist licensed in the State of New Jersey and
a New Jersey Certified School Psychologist. After working
with children with learning problems in the public school
system, Dr. Caspi became intrigued with the opportunity to
evaluate cognitive development at early ages and took the
position with the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (N.I.C.U.)
when the High Risk Follow-up Program was established in 1976.
Dr. Caspi consulted to Early Intervention Programs, which
offers team treatment to infants age zero to three and has
also helped develop a program for emotionally and behaviorally
disturbed preschoolers, the Therapeutic Learning Center at
Children's Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical
Center. This is now also an after-school program. She contributed
to curriculum development for preschoolers with emotional
delays or problems and has mentored graduate student studies
on infant and child emotional development. In CHATT, Dr.
Caspi again enjoys working with a multi-disciplinary team
to help children of all ages with complex developmental and
behavioral needs.
Our team also includes clinical and school
psychologists, a social worker, a speech therapist and an
occupational therapist.
