Newark, NJ—Laughter proved to be good medicine for pediatric patients at Children’s Hospital of New Jersey (CHNJ) at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center who were recently treated to a visit by Disney on Ice stars Mickey Mouse and Minnie and two other skaters. The skating stars, part of the all-new Disney On Ice presents Worlds of Fantasy, shared smiles with pediatric patients on December 3 as they visited the Pediatric Inpatient units as well as the Pediatric Emergency Department.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse, who were in Newark for the inaugural engagement of Disney On Ice at the Prudential Center, walked with oversized feet and friendly waves throughout the halls of CHNJ, to the delight of patients and staff alike. The famous mouse team distributed coloring books and posed for photos with young patients, who gazed lovingly at the pair.
Disney on Ice also donated tickets to the families of several pediatric patients.
“It was a pleasure for our young patients to have such a wonderful visit from Mickey and Minnie, and we greatly appreciate the donation of tickets,” says Anne Reilly, Director of the Child Life Program at CHNJ. “Families with hospitalized children are dealing with many challenging issues. Seeing the joy on their child’s face during the visit helped to make the whole day brighter.”
