Dr. Claire Majisu appointed Medical Director, Reach Out and Read  for Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center

Newark, NJ -- Claire Majisu, MD, FAAP, Director of the Pediatric Continuity Clinic at the Pediatric Health Center, Children's Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel, has been appointed the Medical Director for Reach Out and Read New Jersey (RORNJ), a program that promotes early literacy. 

Dr. Majisu will work with RORNJ to help ensure sites are trained, new sites are brought on board, and advocate the RORNJ program to physicians, government and private sectors.  Dr. Majisu has been a strong advocate for early literacy, which makes her the perfect fit for the Medical Director position. 

The HealthCare Institute of New Jersey, through a partnership between New Jersey's pharmaceutical and medical technology companies, has embarked on the second year of their three year pledge to the Reach Out and Read program. HINJ member companies have pledged to provide $100,000 per year for three years to support existing Reach Out and Read sites in New Jersey, expand the program to serve more at-risk children, and establish an infrastructure to help the program grow and sustain itself in New Jersey. HINJ recently sponsored a book donation at Newark Beth Israel's Children's Hospital. 

Children from birth to 21 years benefit from the full pediatric and adolescent medical and surgical services provided at the Pediatric Health Center at Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center which treats 15,000 patients annually.
