Press Ganey Awards Clara Maass Behavioral Health Team

Belleville, NJ — December 10, 2008 —Press Ganey Associates, Inc., the leading provider of health care performance improvement solutions, awarded Clara Maass Medical Center Behavioral Health with the prestigious Summit Award.

The Summit Award is presented to facilities that have sustained a percentile rank of 95 or above in the Press Ganey database, at the overall level, for a minimum of three consecutive years. Recipients of the Summit Award set themselves apart from the competition by demonstrating their dedication to improvement and sustaining excellence in both quality of care and employee and physician satisfaction.

A 20-bed acute care unit, Behavioral Health at Clara Maass offers inpatient services to adults ages 18 and over including the geriatric population. Its treatment approach is based on providing clients with the most appropriate care in the least restrictive setting according to their individual needs. Treatment involves assessment, intervention and medication administration along with a rich therapeutic program of creative arts therapy, group psychotherapy, illness education, medication management and pastoral services.

Behavioral Health typically treats a range of patients from those with behavioral problems and concurrent drug or alcohol dependency to those with a concurrent medical and psychiatric illness.

The program is comprised of an expert team of behavioral health professionals that include board-certified psychiatrists, a licensed psychologist, licensed clinical social workers, registered nurses, mental health associates, an art therapist, an adjunct therapist, a discharge coordinator and a case manager.
