CLARA MAASS WEST HUDSON DIVISION AND BELLEVILLE TO OFFER FREE WEIGHT-LOSS SUGERY INFORMATIONAL SESSIONS AND SUPPORT GROUPS

Belleville/Kearny, NJ—Are you considering weight-loss surgery? Clara Maaass Medical Center West Hudson Division will offer a free informational session, “About Bariatric Surgery,” on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Main Lobby at 206 Bergen Avenue, Kearny, NJ; and Clara Maass Medical Center at Belleville will hold a session on Wednesday, November 18, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Belleville Founders Room located off of the Main Lobby at 1 Clara Maass Drive, Belleville, NJ.

Naveen Ballem, M.D., Medical Director of the Bariatric Surgery Center at Clara Maass Medical Center, will discuss what to expect during and after the surgery as well as the surgery’s benefits and risks. Former weight-loss surgery patients will also be present to share their experiences and success stories.

 “Weight loss surgery is a big commitment and lifestyle change,” said Dr. Ballem. “Patients need to be dedicated to the entire process, which goes beyond surgery. In order to improve their quality of life, patients have to commit to a healthier lifestyle which involves changes in diet, exercise and behavior.”

To register for either of these free seminars, please call Maria Rivera, bariatric coordinator at 973-450-2393.. Attendees may park for free at either location in the parking decks. Attendees are welcome to stay for the post-bariatric surgery support group following the seminars at 7 p.m.
