Clara Maass Medical Center Awarded ‘A’ Rating by
the Leapfrog Group for Hospital Safety

Belleville, NJ – For the second time this year, Clara Maass Medical Center has been awarded an “A” rating for hospital safety, by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit organization.

The Leapfrog Group, which rates hospitals and medical centers nationwide, gave Clara Maass Medical Center an “A” score, which is the highest score possible. More than 2,600 medical institutions, including New Jersey’s 71 hospitals, were graded.

The hospital safety score was assigned to Clara Maass Medical Medical Center based on 26 categories of publicly-available hospital safety data. “We are pleased and proud to be recognized again by The Leapfrog Group for our safety record,” said Mary Ellen Clyne, Ph.D, President and Chief Executive Officer for Clara Maass Medical Center. “Our medical and our entire health care team works hard to ensure the highest standards of excellence when it comes to patient safety.”

“Hospitals like this that earn an ‘A’ have demonstrated their commitment to their patients and their community,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. Of four Barnabas Health medical centers that were rated by Leapfrog, three received ‘A’ scores, including Clara Maass Medical Center.
