Toms River, N.J., October 9, 2008 – Community Medical Center announced the implementation of a new patient data delivery system – Clinical Xpert Navigator.
The system, from the healthcare business of Thomson Reuters, integrates clinical data from across multiple hospital information systems and securely delivers patient information directly to clinicians via web-based and mobile devices. The clinical data delivered includes patient census lists, demographics, laboratory results, diagnostic reports, medication lists, transcribed reports and active orders.
Navigator can be used by Community Medical Center physicians to access real-time clinical information at any time, from any location inside or outside of the hospital. The system’s mobile function works on over 100 handheld devices such as Palm and BlackBerry and requires a simple interface that takes only minutes to learn.
John Crisanti, MD, vice president of Medical Affairs at Community Medical Center, said, “By receiving timely access to this critical clinical data, physicians are able to provide more informed patient care, and cut down on time normally spent waiting for lab results or tracking down patient information. Navigator improves a physician’s workflow and efficiency, which results in improved care, decreased medical errors and shortened patient length of stay in the hospital.”
The system also improves communication between all physicians caring for the same patient, both inside and outside of the hospital setting.
James L. Pasquariello, MD, a cardiologist and president of the Medical Staff at Community, said, “Our physicians are quickly realizing the benefits of the Clinical Xpert Navigator system. We can now access patient information right from our offices or get real-time updates while we are rounding in the hospital.”
“Implementing Clinical Xpert Navigator is part of Community Medical Center’s greater commitment to providing the highest level of patient care for our region,” said Mark D. Pilla, executive vice president of Operations for the Saint Barnabas Health Care System and executive director of Community Medical Center. “It is another example of our efforts to provide our physicians with the technology they need to provide the highest level of patient care.”
