The Joint Institute At Community Medical Center Presents Program on Osteoarthritis

TOMS RIVER, NJ, May 19, 2009 – The Joint Institute at Community Medical Center will present a free community health education program on Osteoarthritis of the Hip and Knee. The program will be held at the Lighthouse, 591 Lakehurst Road in Toms River, on Tuesday, May 26 at 2 p.m.

Osteoarthritis, said to affect more than 27 million Americans, is a degenerative disease of the joints. It occurs when the cartilage in the joints wears down over time, causing pain, tenderness, stiffness, inflammation, creaking and locking of joints. Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis.

The program will address the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, as well as the risk factors and treatment options.
