Community Medical Center to Host Workshop on Teens and Sexuality 

TOMS RIVER, NJ, JUNE 1, 2009 – The Center for Kids & Family at Community Medical Center will present, “Positive Encounters: Working One-On-One with Teens About Sexuality” on Monday,
June 22 from 6 – 8:30 p.m. The program will be held in the hospital’s auditorium, 99 Highway 37 West in Toms River.

The workshop, designed for teachers, counselors, nurses, social workers and parents who interact with adolescents in a one-on-one capacity about sexuality, will be presented by Answer, Rutgers University School of Applied Psychology.

Participants will learn about the latest trends in adolescent sexual behavior, and have the opportunity to examine personal versus professional boundaries as they relate to disclosure. Participants will also practice handling teachable moments and issues related to confidentiality and agency policy on sexual health, and learn to identify ways they can support and encourage adolescents to make healthy, responsible choices about their sexuality.
