Community Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for its Total Joint Replacement - Hip and Knee Program by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety. The certification recognizes Community Medical Center’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the- art standards.
Community Medical Center is the only hospital in Ocean County to achieve this distinction and has been nationally recognized for its orthopedic program for nearly a decade.
"In achieving Joint Commission certification, Community Medical Center has demonstrated its commitment to the highest level of care for its patients undergoing hip or knee replacement, says Jean Range, M.S., RN, C.P.H.Q. executive director, Disease-Specific Care Certification, The Joint Commission. “Certification is a voluntary process and I commend Community Medical Center for successfully undertaking this challenge to elevate its standard of care and instill confidence in the community it serves.”
According to Elmo Samuel, MD, Medical Director of the Joint Institute at Community Medical Center, “Our orthopedic specialists are among the best in the region to be trained in minimally invasive surgical procedures. We are dedicated to providing the most sophisticated orthopedic care so our patients can recover quickly in the comfort of their own community.” Dr Samuel added, “Achieving Joint Commission certification along with our other national recognitions for orthopedic excellence is a testament to the high quality care that is available right here in Ocean County.”
Community Medical Center opened The Joint Institute in 2008. The institute offers comprehensive care for patients undergoing hip and knee replacements, as well as spine surgery. The Institute, located within the hospital, allows patients to stay close to home, friends and family without the need to travel away from the area for this high level of care. The Joint Institute offers a fully-integrated team of health care professionals including orthopedic surgeons, specially trained nurses, physical and occupational therapists, and a home health staff dedicated to getting patients home after surgery instead of going to a rehabilitation center.
