Toms River, NJ, July 16, 2012 – The Women’s Breast Imaging Program at Community Medical Center has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in all of the College’s voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.
The breast imaging services at Community Medical Center are fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that this facility has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs.
“Many highly skilled and compassionate professionals from a variety of disciplines are needed to implement an effective breast health program,” said Stephanie L. Bloom, president and chief executive officer, Community Medical Center, “and they each contributed to achieving this impressive designation.” The Women’s Breast Imaging team is composed of dedicated, board-certified radiologists and highly trained, certified mammography and ultrasound technologists. “The Women’s Imaging Center is committed to a team approach of care and is dedicated to helping women achieve good breast health,” she added.
The Women’s Imaging Program offers all digital Mammography, Ultrasound, Breast MRI, Ultrasound, Stereotactic (X-Ray) or MRI Guided Core Biopsy, and DXA used to screen for osteoporosis.
