Toms River, NJ, January 24, 2012 - Community Medical Center has established a support group for individuals and their loved ones who suffer from Congestive Heart Failure (CHF). CHF is a condition that develops when the heart is not able to pump enough blood to meet the needs of the body’s tissues and is characterized by breathlessness and water retention.
The Congestive Heart Failure Support Group will meet on the fourth Wednesday of every month from 1-2 pm at The Lighthouse located at 591 Lakehurst Road in Toms River.
The goal of the Support Group is to give CHF patients the opportunity to share their concerns and frustrations and discuss the challenges they face and ways to overcome obstacles related to heart failure.
On Wednesday, February 22, Terri Risley, RD, will review ‘The Importance of a Low Sodium Diet and Reading Food Labels’ and on March 28, Liz Dorick, will discuss ‘Humor and Health.’
