Cryoblation

What is Cryoblation?

Cryoblation is a process that uses extreme cold ( cryo ) to remove tissue ( ablation )

Is a minimally invasive interventional radiology treatment that destroys tumors by freezing them. It is a safe way of treating tumors in a selected group of patients that are not good candidates for surgery. The Radiologist uses imaging technology such as CT to radiographically put the ablation probes into the tumor, and the destruction of the tumor can then be monitored using the Cat Scan Images. This approach may be done under light anesthesia which is known as sedation.

Community Medical Center has the expertise and equipment in our Interventional CT Department to perform this procedure. Our board certified Radiologist, CT Technologists and Radiology RN are all trained for this interventional procedure.

Why should I consider Cryoblation?

If you have been diagnosed with renal tumors, or other ablate solid masses it is important to discuss all of the available treatment with your primary caregiver. Depending on the type and area of the tumor you may be a candidate for the cryoblation procedure.

Cryoblation is less invasive and a more effective technology then surgery alternatives. It has a much quicker and more comfortable recovery time.

Is Cryoblation right for me?

You may be a candidate for Cryoblation , if you fit into any of the following categories.

  • Patient’s looking for an alternative to surgery
  • Patient who may be a poor surgical candidate.
  • Patients with kidney masses or other associated medical conditions
  • Patients with poor kidney function ( cryoblation does not require control of blood supply to the kidney )
