Kimball Presents Colon Cancer Awareness Day
Thursday, March 26, from 9:30 am – 3 pm

Lakewood, NJ - According to the American Cancer Society, colorectal cancer, cancer of the colon or rectum, is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. 

In honor of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, Kimball Medical Center is hosting a Colon Cancer Awareness Day on Thursday, March 26 from 9:30 am until 3 pm in Conference Center A-B-C on the main floor of the hospital.  Throughout the day, a variety of health education information focusing on colorectal health and cancer prevention will be available. 

Two lectures will be held by board-certified gastroenterologists as part of the awareness program.  Mathew Kandathil, MD, Chair of the Department of Gastroenterology at Kimball Medical Center will give a free lecture from 10 -11 am.  Omar Tamimi, MD, gastroenterologist also on staff at Kimball, will also give a free lecture from 1 – 2 pm. 

Joan Scialpi, RN,  Director of Outpatient Infusion at Kimball and Cathy Heintz, RD, Chief Dietitian at Kimball will be available throughout the day offering educational information and giveaways.  Colorectal cancer handouts from the American Cancer Society and the Centers for Disease Control will be available at the event.
