KIMBALL MEDICAL CENTER AWARDED ACCREDITATION FROM THE JOINT COMMISSION

Lakewood, NJ ---  Kimball Medical Center has once again earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety.

“At Kimball Medical Center, we are committed to providing the highest quality health care possible. We sought accreditation because we want to demonstrate our dedication and commitment to patient safety and quality care,” says Joe Hicks, Executive Director of Kimball Medical Center.  “Obtaining Joint Commission accreditation is yet another step toward achieving and maintaining excellence.”

To earn and maintain accreditation, a hospital must undergo an on-site survey by a Joint Commission survey team. Joint Commission surveys are unannounced and occur 18 to 39 months after the previous unannounced survey. What the unannounced Joint Commission surveys tell the public is that this hospital is ready anytime to be surveyed according to the highest health care industry standards.  The objective of the survey is not only to evaluate the hospital, but to provide education and guidance that will help staff continue to improve the hospital’s performance.

The survey process evaluates actual care processes by tracing patients through the care, treatment and services they received, and it also analyzes key operational systems that directly impact the quality and safety of patient care.

Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission seeks to continuously improve the safety and quality of care provided to the public through the provision of health care accreditation and related services that support performance improvement in health care organizations. The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States, including more than 8,000 hospitals and home care organizations, and more than 6,800 other health care organizations.  An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission is the nation's oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.

“We are proud of our recent accreditation here at Kimball,” says Hicks.  “The accreditation award recognizes our dedication to complying with the Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards on a continuous basis, and assures the public that their health care needs will be met at our medical center.”
