Kimball Medical Center Pharmacy Department Employees Create Goodwill Program

Lakewood, NJ --- The Pharmacy staff at Kimball Medical Center decided to create a goodwill program for their department with the sole mission of helping to feed local families for the holidays.

Pharmacy staff members have been bringing in non-perishable food items for several weeks to donate to various local organizations and churches.  A collection bin decorated with angels, was set-up in the department, and staff members have been eagerly filling it every week.

“The holiday season is the perfect time for us to give back to the community,” says Sandra Richardson, Assistant Director for the Pharmacy at Kimball.  “Tracy Schubach, our pharmacy technician really started this program after reading an article about helping the less fortunate in your place of business,” explained Richardson.  “We all agreed that it was a great idea and started collecting shortly afterwards.”

Several weeks ago, the Pharmacy made their first donation to the Upper Room Soup Kitchen in Lakewood.  They have since made subsequent donations to Macedonia Baptist Church in Lakewood and the House of Hope in Toms River.  The department is still collecting, and hopes to make another significant donation before Christmas.

Staff members have also donated their time by volunteering to help out at the House of Hope on Thanksgiving Day.

The news of the Pharmacy Department’s Goodwill program spread throughout Kimball Medical Center and as a result, many employees from other departments at Kimball, including the Operating Room, have also contributed to the program as well.

“It’s really nice to see this type of goodwill from the employees in our department and from many others here at Kimball Medical Center,” said Richardson.
