Kimball Vice President Inducted as President of the Organization of Nurse Executives

Deanna Sperling, M.A.S., R.N., C.N.A., B.C., vice president of Patient Care ServicesLAKEWOOD, NJ ---  Deanna Sperling, M.A.S., R.N., C.N.A., B.C., vice president of Patient Care Services at Kimball Medical Center, was recently inducted as President of the Organization of Nurse Executives/New Jersey for 2010 -2011.

The Organization of Nurse Executives/New Jersey (ONE/NJ) was established in1971 for nursing leaders in their quest for a united voice in representing nursing administration and management in all practice settings. ONE/NJ is affiliated with the New Jersey Hospital Association and the American Organization of Nurse Executives.

Sperling was named vice president of Patient Care Services at Kimball — the hospital’s top leadership role in nursing, responsible for directing a staff of nearly 400 nurses who work in a host of inpatient and outpatient settings, in 2007. She also holds the position of vice president of Patient Care Services for the Saint Barnabas Behavioral Health Center in Toms River, a role she has held since 1998. Prior to that, she was director of nursing for the behavioral health facility, where she also had tenures as supervisor and charge nurse for several patient care units.

She graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, with a master’s degree in administrative science and is a nursing graduate of St. James Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Hornell, N.Y. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Bloomfield College and is board certified in nursing administration by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

In addition to her membership in the Organization of Nurse Executives of New Jersey, Sperling is also a member of the American Nurses Association.

 "ONE/NJ exists to represent and strengthen nurse leaders and aspiring nurse leaders by providing opportunities for professional networking, education, mentorship and consultation," Sperling said. "I am honored to be to be the President of ONE/NJ and look forward to the opportunity to further the mission of the organization and enhance the image of the nursing profession."

Joe Hicks, executive director of Kimball Medical Center and Saint Barnabas Behavioral Health Center, said, "Deanna is a great leader, with a passion for nursing. Her talents and competency will serve her well as she takes on this very important role with ONE/NJ."

Sperling is a resident of Lakewood, NJ.
