Area Families Touched by Brain Tumors Attend Healing Art Program  

LONG BRANCH, NJ – Area families who have experienced the loss of a loved one from a brain tumor gathered recently to share their experiences and help share their loss through an innovative art program called “Art is Good.” Presented by the David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center at Monmouth Medical Center in cooperation with Creative Seven, the Art is Good class was held at Surf Taco in Belmar, and taught by local artist Tim Kelly.

Artist Tim Kelly (left) led the Art is Good program offered by The David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center at Monmouth Medical Center. Joining him is Judy Zocchi, Pat Doherty, and his children Olivia and Kyle. Doherty lost his wife to a brain tumor.

The class was designed to give children and adults the opportunity to socialize with others who are in a similar situation and offer a forum for expression through creativity and friendship. The Art Is Good classes are a casual way to bring together families who have a common situation in their lives. 

Monmouth Medical Center’s David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center at the Leon Hess Cancer Center provides a full spectrum of comprehensive services to treat benign and malignant tumors originating in the brain and spinal cord, as well as neurological complications of cancer that has spread to other regions of the body. The Center offers a multidisciplinary approach for leading-edge treatment of primary and metastatic tumors of the central nervous system.

The David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center is committed to serving the families of people who have been diagnosed with brain tumors.  In addition to the “Art is Good” program, the Brain Tumor Center provides access to a social worker for one-one-one family counseling.
