GI care.
• Monmouth Medical Center ranked among
the top five percent nationally for treatment of stroke and is

of hospitals in the nation for this service. Monmouth received
a five-star rating for treatment of heart attack and heart failure.
The hospital is rated in the top five percent of hospitals in
New Jersey for overall orthopedic services and in the top ten
percent nationally for overall GI medical treatment.
The HealthGrades study identifies the highest quality hospitals
in the nation in terms of clinical excellence by analyzing federal
Medicare patient data for 28 common medical procedures and diagnoses,
from hip replacement to bypass surgery.
“Saving and improving the lives of people in our community
is the top priority of our physicians, nurses and staff,” said
Ronald J. DelMauro, president and chief executive officer of
the Saint Barnabas Health Care System. “As an objective
third party, HealthGrades has found that we’re not only
achieving our goal, but performing in elite company nationwide.
I am very pleased with this recognition, which is shared by everyone
affiliated with Community, Kimball and Monmouth Medical Centers.”
In its 2005 study, HealthGrades independently and objectively
analyzed Medicare patient records from fiscal years 2001-2003,
for 28 medical procedures and diagnoses. To qualify for the list,
hospitals were required to meet the minimum thresholds in terms
of patient volumes, quality ratings and the range of services
provided.
“There is clearly a difference in the quality of care
available, and for patients and families who use Community, Kimball
and Monmouth Medical Centers, this is good news,” Del Mauro
added. “It means that in our hospitals, patients with serious
conditions and complex diagnoses are much more likely to survive
and thrive as a result of their hospital stay at our facilities.”
