MONMOUTH MEDICAL CENTER PHARMACY OFFERS SHINGLES VACCINATION FOR SENIORS

LONG BRANCH, New Jersey—The Monmouth Medical Center Pharmacy, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch, is now scheduling Shingles vaccination clinics.  The Shingles Vaccination Program offers patients the opportunity to have the new FDA-approved Zostavax vaccin both filled and administered at the Retail Pharmacy at Monmouth Medical Center

The Center for Disease Control's (CDC) Advisory Committee, ACIP, recommends a shingles vaccine for all appropriate patients aged 60 years and over. Shingles, a viral infection caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox, can cause a blistering skin rash accompanied by severe pain.  Approximately one million people in the U.S. develop shingles each year, more than 50 percent of whom are senior adults.

Please check with your primary physician to see if you are a candidate for the Zostavax vaccine. For more information on the MMC Pharmacy Shingles Vaccination Program at  Monmouth Medical Center and costs associated, call the MMC Pharmacy directly at
732-923-6111.  To register for the next clinic and reserve your Shingles Vaccine, call 1-888-724-7123.  You will need a prescription from your doctor.
