Long Branch, New Jersey – The Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center recently received a donation of gift-filled hampers, tailor-made for each of the nine children receiving treatment at the Valerie Center at Monmouth Medical Center.
This donation came from Dr. Richard and Linda Bloomstein of Livingston, New Jersey. The Bloomstein’s made the donation in honor of their son, Larry, and his wife, Lauren, who reside in Moorestown. The hampers, which were purchased and then lovingly filled with toys and items hand-picked and tailored for each of the nine children who would be receiving them, were centerpieces at Lauren’s baby shower.
Lauren, a nurse who works at Monmouth Medical Center in the NICU, requested that the center pieces be created and then donated to the children currently receiving treatment at the Valerie Fund.
Dr. and Mrs. Bloomstein generously donated the hampers because they “have a special place in their heart for Monmouth Medical Center.”
“The hampers were beautiful and filled with not only toys and gifts, but with love and hope,” says Meg Fisher, MD, Medical Director of The Children’s Hospital. “It was wonderful of the Bloomstein’s to think of our Valerie children here at The Children’s Hospital.”
The Valerie Center at the Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center provides comprehensive medical services to infants, children, adolescents and young adults with leukemia and other cancers and blood disorders, such as sickle cell anemia, thalassemia and thrombocytopenia.
