LONG BRANCH, NJ, MAY 4, 2011 – The Two Rivers Garden Tour, a two-day event featuring tours of six beautiful and rarely viewed gardens in Monmouth County’s “Two Rivers” area, will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 4 and 5.
“The tour features grand estates, enchanting home gardens, and dedicated crop gardens that are sure to delight beginner and avid gardeners alike,” said Barbara Etter, co-chair of the 2011 antiques and Art Show and Garden Tour.
All proceeds of the June’s Two Rivers Garden Tour and October’s Antiques and Art Show benefit the Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center at Monmouth Medical Center. The event is the major fund-raiser for the Wilentz Breast Center and its satellites in Colts Neck and Howell, enabling it to remain at the forefront of breast cancer detection, diagnosis and treatment.
Now entering its 17th year, this unique event draws well over 1,000 attendees and has raised in excess of $2 million since its inception to provide cutting-edge technology and the most advanced breast care available to women in our community.
Hours for the Garden Tour are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, and 11:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 5. Advance tickets are $20 and tickets purchased at the gardens the day of the event are $25.Volunteers and senior citizens pay $20 per ticket.
An accompanying Antiques and Art Show — which has been named “one of the best small shows anywhere” by Antiques and Arts Weekly magazine and features 25 fine antiques dealers — will be held separately from the Garden Tour in 2011. The antiques show will be held at the Rumson Country Day School and will kick off Friday, October 14 with a Preview Party and continue on Saturday and Sunday, October 15 and 16. Tickets for the Art and Antiques Show are $12 in advance or $15 at the door and will be sold at all participating gardens throughout the Garden Tour.
