LONG BRANCH, NJ, January 3, 2011 – The Women’s Council for the Leon Hess Cancer Center presented its semiannual “Spa for the Spirit” — held each fall and spring to give cancer patients a day of relaxation, rejuvenation and beauty — December 8 at Aqua Medica Spa in Long Branch.
“The women spend the day getting facials, massages and have breakfast and lunch — all in the name of health and well-being,” says Judi Morris, Spa for the Spirit coordinator for the Women’s Council for the Leon Hess Cancer Center. “The Women’s Council created Spa for the Spirit to help women who are going through chemotherapy or radiation therapy to feel beautiful and relaxed, and ultimately help them to recover more quickly.”
Participants also are treated to facials, manicures and pedicures, as well as Reiki and reflexology sessions and counseling with a nutritionist. All spa treatments are approved by Monmouth Medical Center’s Cancer Services’ clinical staff.
Funding for Spa for the Spirit comes from the annual Power of Pink luncheons hosted by the Women’s Council each summer and Mixology with a Twist at Pier Village. To learn more about Spa for the Spirit, call Monmouth Medical Center Foundation at 732-923-6886.
