Partners in Progress 2009

Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC), a 673-bed regional care, teaching hospital established in 1901, is an affiliate of Barnabas Health. NBIMC is renowned for providing patients with compassionate, innovative and superior care. Serving the residents of Newark and the state of New Jersey for more than a century, The Beth provides the finest health care and health care training in the state. As a teaching hospital, The Beth trains 185 physicians annually in 18 specialties, making it the largest non-University based teaching hospital in New Jersey.

The Beth offers the state’s most comprehensive Robotic Surgery Center with expertise in cardiac, gynecologic, urological, general and pediatric surgeries. The Beth is also home to The Barnabas Health Heart Center at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, which offers the best in adult cardiology services and cardiac surgery programs,
including heart transplantation; the nationally recognized Pacemaker and Defibrillator Center; the Frederick B. Cohen, MD, Comprehensive Cancer and Blood Disorders Center; a technologically advanced Obstetrics and Gynecological Program providing a full spectrum of maternity and women’s services including a perinatal staff that provides expert intensive care for mothers and infants in a compassionate environment.

In 1997, Children’s Hospital of New Jersey (CHNJ) joined The Beth family. Now considered New Jersey’s premier pediatric facility, CHNJ provides medical expertise in more than 30 pediatric sub-specialties,
serving the children of Newark and throughout New Jersey. As a teaching institution, CHNJ delivers a special level of care to its patients, attracting the state’s most experienced physicians committed to academic and medical excellence. CHNJ is home to the state’s largest Level III New Jersey Designated Regional Perinatal
Center with a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit that provides
care to some of the most critically ill newborns throughout New Jersey; a Pediatric Critical Care Center, a Valerie Fund Center for children with cancer and blood disorders; a Pediatric Emergency Department, the busiest in the state; and many other unique critical services.
