RENAL TRANSPLANTATION (973) 926-7555
On September 20, 1968, the state's first living-related kidney transplant was performed at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
Today, the Barnabas Health Renal and Pancreas Transplant Centers are located at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. Together, they form one of the largest programs in the country with more than 250 transplant surgeries performed each year, and more than 4,130 since 1968. In fact, the Barnabas Health Renal and Pancreas Transplant Centers combined perform more renal transplants than any other facilities in New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia or Boston.
Barnabas Health is one of a few renal transplant programs in New Jersey
that is involved in clinical research trials for patients. Barnabas Health
physicians have actively participated as primary investigators
for clinical research trials in new anti-rejection drug therapies
since 1993.
