(973) 926-7591 The Medical Center’s Vascular Surgery
team treats patients with disease of the blood vessels and lymphatic
system. The team specializes in carotid artery, peripheral
vascular and aneurysm surgery. Minimally invasive techniques
are used to relieve arterial obstruction and the treatment of venous
diseases & varicose veins. Endovascular stent graft
repair of aortic aneurysms is also performed.
Established in 1973, the Vascular Non-Invasive Laboratory was
among the first vascular labs in the state of New Jersey. The
Vascular Lab offers a variety of non-invasive testing modalities
to assist the physician in the diagnosis of vascular disease including:
PAD, venous thrombosis “clots”, Carotid artery narrowing,
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms, and diseases of the blood vessels of
the kidneys and liver..
ICAVL accredited since 1983, the Vascular Lab uses ultrasonography, “sound
waves”, not injectable dyes to image abnormalities within
the blood vessels of the body. Limb plethysmography, a physiological
study, is also used to diagnose peripheral artery disease (PAD). Segmental
blood pressure cuffs are utilized to demonstrate the blood flow
and pressure to areas of the limbs. Treadmill testing of
the lower extremities is performed for those patients complaining
of “claudication” which is calf or thigh pain with
walking.
Treatment of arterial pseudo-aneurysm following arterial injury is
performed under ultrasound guidance. This procedure has become
the primary treatment of pseudo-aneurysms saving the patient for
surgical intervention.
