Newark, N.J. – The Frederick B. Cohen, M.D., Comprehensive Cancer and Blood Disorder Center at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC) will hold a free Breast Cancer Screening event on Saturday, October 18, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
The Center will provide breast exams, instruction on self-breast exams, and mammograms for women over age 35, all at no cost to the community. The mammograms will not be done on the day of the screening, and is subject to ACS guidelines. To register for the free breast cancer screening, please call (973) 926-7976. The Frederick B. Cohen, M.D., Comprehensive Cancer and Blood Disorder Center at NBIMC provides a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and management of patients with cancer and blood disorders, combining compassion with the latest physician expertise, achievements and clinical research. Under the direction of Alice Cohen, M.D., the Center's staff includes 8 full-time medical oncologists, a surgical oncologist, and a radiation oncology team, as well as oncology nurses, social workers and support staff, all of whom collaborate to guide patients through the physical and emotional challenges that cancer presents. The Center has recently expanded its treatment area, and offers the most advanced treatment tools, including a Tomotherapy machine and Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) technology for pinpoint delivery of radiation therapy.
