Newark, NJ –May 2, 2008— Newark Beth Israel Medical Center announces that Tomas Gregorio, Vice President/Chief Information Officer at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Ridgewood resident, is a recipient of the 2008 CIO Ones to Watch awards from IDG’s CIO magazine and CIO Executive Council.
This prestigious honor is bestowed upon 20 rising stars in information technology (IT) who bring leadership, innovation and value to their organization and are primed to become future CIOs. Mr. Gregorio will accept his award at the CIO Ones to Watch awards ceremony to be held on May 19, 2008, at The Sheraton Boston in Boston, Massachusetts during CIO magazine's Leadership Event.
“We are pleased that Tomas Gregorio has been acknowledged through this award, which identifies innovators in the world of information technology,” says John A. Brennan, M.D., Executive Director of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. “Tomas has demonstrated leadership, driven technological advances and helped to give patients the best access possible to outstanding medical care.”
Mr. Gregorio has worked in the healthcare IT industry for over 15 years and has worked in several hospitals around the country as a consultant implementing technology solutions to satisfy business and clinical needs. In just two years with Newark Beth Israel, he has upgraded their network infrastructure and made all 1.3 million square feet of the medical center wireless preparing the hospital for the technologies of the future. Physicians, nurses, patients and their families will all benefit from the technological advances being implemented at NBI.
All the Ones to Watch honorees must be nominated or endorsed by a CIO. Nominations were submitted between September and November 2007 and reviewed by a judging panel of 30 leading CIOs.
“The Ones to Watch honorees are, variously, great technologists, project managers, information architects and risk managers. The one thing they all have in common is their ability to lead,” says Abbie Lundberg, CIO editor in chief.
