Newark Bears pitchers and fielders Keith Foulke, Ryan Bukvich, Tim Bittner, Anthony Manuel and Charlton Jimerson, and Bears mascots Ruppert and Effa, visited patients on the pediatric unit at CHNJ. The players went from room to room making visits to the bedside, and then posed for photos in the Playroom.

The players also held a "Bears Care" program.  Each pediatric patient received Bear’s signed baseballs, a stuffed bear, a lunchbox, and every family was given tickets to a game.

“It was wonderful for the Bears to visit and a treat for siblings and parents to also receive game tickets,” said Anne Reilly, Director of Child Life at CHNJ. “Families appreciate the smiles that the Bears bring to their hospitalized child.”

The Newark Bears, a two-time championship team that is part of the 8-team independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball Clubs, have been playing at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium in the heart of Newark since 1999.
